tricky puzzleFeb 21, 2011
By G. L. Tanty I must respectfully disagree with the other post. There are instructions, but they're not easy. That's the enjoyment. On the back of the picture is an exact drawing of every sheet of wood you get. Each piece has numbers or letters. You fit 1 to 1, 2 to 2, etc. It takes a bit to figure out what goes where. The sandpaper is a bit small. Some of the pieces do fall back out so I glue where needed. Some of the pieces are not easy to get out of the board and require a bit of help from an Exacto knife. I've built probably 20 of the kits from this manufacturer because they're fun. I wouldn't say a youngster could put them together but might be a fun project for a parent/child afternoon. This is a comparatively easy puzzle. For me, the scant instructions and the trial by dry fitting looking only at the numbers and the front photo are the enjoyment.
This is not a wooden heirloom, but look at the price.

Do not buySep 19, 2010
By Nina I would have given it a zero rating if I could have. I bought this thinking it would be fun. Boy was I wrong. The sandpaper they give you is a 2 inch square - not big enough to use on the smallest piece much less the largest piece. There are NO instructions inside except to tell you to look at the picture. If you look at the picture of the owl, there are so many over-lapping and interlocking pieces that you cannot tell where anything goes. And the pieces you can identify don't always look like the picture. Not all the pieces pop out of the board and they break easily. Glue is needed to put them back together Spend you money elsewhere.
Super fun but cheaper at Michael'sFeb 02, 2012
By Vudu I love these things and the owl is the most complicated I've done so far. You just need a little patience when following instruction. If you'd like to challenge yourself: assemble without an instruction -- how a puzzle should be. Of all the hundreds of pieces, I had trouble with 2 that didn't fit in right (glue can easily fix that). So come on, that's quite impressive!
Kudos to the puzzle maker. I'm just disappointed at Amazon pricing. You can get the exact same thing at Michael's for $5.
