 Great product, but not quarter scaleApr 04, 2010

I bought this kit September 2009. Had no difficulty putting it together, but I have a great deal of experience assembling dollhouses and dollhouse furniture in various scales.
One point of "buyer beware" -- this is not 1/4 scale (as in 1 foot is equal to one quarter inch). According to my ruler this kit makes up into a bathtub, sink and toilet that correspond to 1:12 scale.
Even so, it's a nice little kit if you like tinkering with things and enjoy working with your hands. Naturally, I could not leave it "as is," I had to fancy it up with wood stain and appliques. Looks cute and nearly "real" and should be great in a Victorian dollhouse or Victorian room setting. I'm impressed that the pieces are made of a fairly good quality wood and that the pieces went together as they should.
This is also more of a collector's piece than something to hand to a child. It is likely that this is a bit to fragile for a child to handle unless the child very, very gentle. If you're considering this for a young child, you might be happier with plastic furniture rather than this kit.

I'm pretty familiar with this type of '3D puzzle', inexpensive plywood kit. Gotta say I was NOT terribly impressed with this particular set: all three of the components have severe tolerance and shape issues. If you want to just slap it together with some glue & not really worry about the overall quality, okay, but I think it is disappointing when the parts just do *not* line up. Sink is projecting over the edge of the washstand, bathtub ends don't reach the bottom, some parts which *should* be totally symmetrical simply aren't. You'll end up having to do quite a bit of clamping & perhaps a bit of shaving & carving out of some holes. I lost interest in trying to adapt the holes with wood putty; just not worth it.
My grandson was very tickled with the color pictures of the completed project; too bad the reality is not the same.

Nice product. I particularly like the sink, but found the bathtub and commode a bit difficult to assemble. I am toying with the idea (no pun intended!)of creating a porcelain finish on the tub and commode but haven't yet figured out how to do that. But, then again, thats part of the fun! This kit can be used as a child's toy, but contains a number of small pieces so parents would do well to use caution if they have small children.
